Life in the Tuk Tuk Lane, Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is Bangkok on training wheels. Actually, the vibe here is completely different, sort of like comparing San Francisco to New York. I live in San Francisco so it’s understandable that Chiang Mai is more my speed.

All the guide books warn against tuk tuks, the open-sided three wheelers that whizz through the streets like a swarm of crazy bees. Personally, I don’t understand why every urban center doesn’t use them, maybe an electric version with a smaller carbon footprint. They are economical, fast, available, and more exhilarating than a zipper ride.

Though I still prefer the view from the ground.
