I live a bit of a charmed life, quietly but with good fortune, and always with thanks to the kindness of others. I’m in Paris every six months, but usually in the dead of winter and the sweltering heat of summer.
This trip has been blessed with warm weather, blue skies, and Parisiennes who are enjoying fully the break in foul weather.
As if that was not enough, colleagues arranged an invitation to a private event at Versailles, which was closed early and cleared of tourists for the occasion. Sure, there were 1,500 of us in attendance but that is far fewer than the tens of thousands crawling daily all over the magnificent gardens and remnants of France’s monarchic past.
Fantastic! While you are hobnobbing with royalty, I am in your fair city. Weather here is amazing compared to sweltering NYC. Can’t wait to see you and Yolaida soon. XO-krista
See you in NY, Krista. Sorry to have missed you in SF.
I was just there on the tenth. I spent most of my time out near Marie Antoinette;s Hamlet and the Grand Trianon. If you haven’t been back to that portion of the ground you really should. It helped me get a better idea of just how massive the grounds of Versailles really are.
I focused on the rare opportunity to linger in the salons for a closed event but did visit the Petite Trianon. The property is, indeed, vast. I regret not allocating more time to indulge in an Alice-in-Wonderland moment of running through the gardens and getting lost after kicking off my dress shoes.
